We strive to lead in the Central WI communities we serve

France Propane Service officially began in 1990, when Gary France took over the propane division of France Sales and Service. The France family had served customers in the greater Marathon County region all the way back to 1958 (and Gary had been helping with the business since he was 13).

We are a truly multi-generational operation. Gary’s son Patrick took on a leadership role in the company in 2014, bringing with him extensive organizational expertise from the banking industry.

The legacy of France Propane is about taking care of our friends and neighbors. We do this by providing top quality service and premium fuel and by adhering to the strictest safety standards possible. We’re also dedicated to giving back and leading in our industry.

Leading by example in the community

Gary France has been an active volunteer in the Wausau area and is a charter member and past president of the Wausau Early Birds Rotary Club. He is a past chair of the Newman Catholic School System and continues to work as a volunteer for that organization.

France Propane also has some of the most eco-friendly vehicles around — powered by our low-carbon autogas.

Raising a voice for propane customers

Gary France is part of the leadership of both the National Propane Gas Association (NPGA) and the Wisconsin Propane Gas Association (WPGA). Nationally, he is the chair of PropanePAC, a member of the NPGA Government Affairs Committee, and a member of the NPGA Member Services Committee. He also served as the treasurer of the NPGA board of directors.

In Wisconsin, as a WPGA board member, France served as the chair of the WPGA Legislative Committee, actively promoting political awareness and participation at both the state and national levels.
